Job Title: EED - Semester Lecturer Department: Engineering | Engineering Education Lecturer (SEM) Department of Engineering Education College of Engineering Position Overview The Department of Engineering Education is accepting applications for Semester Lecturer appointment(s) (temporary position; less than 30hrs a week) to teach undergraduate and/or graduate course(s) in the Department of Engineering Education for Fall/Spring/Summer semester. Hours will vary, pending course(s) available. Duties include but are not limited to: holding office hours; grading assignments and submitting grades; may participate in curriculum development and course coordination. All courses are taught in person on the University's main campus in Columbus, Ohio. Performance Objectives * Presenting course material and guiding students through assignments * Creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment * Demonstrated commitment to student success. * Collaboration with fellow instructors Education and Experience Requirements Required * Master's degree or equivalent * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills * A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio State's Shared Values. Desired * Experience teaching in a learning setting including, but not limited to, K-12 classroom experience or higher education teaching as an instructor of record or graduate teaching assistant. Additional Information: Department Information The Department of Engineering Education (EED) is located within the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. The EED's mission includes advancing the engineering profession and enabling student success by: * Conducting and propagating world-class scholarship in engineering education * Modeling and advocating scholarly, evidence-based teaching within the College of Engineering * Developing and delivering state-of-the-art, innovative, multidisciplinary courses and programs in first-year engineering, engineering technical communication, multidisciplinary capstone design, and graduate education in engineering education. The EED was created in November 2015 and the Ph.D. program was approved in Spring 2018. In Autumn 2023, approximately 25 graduate students will be enrolled in the engineering education doctoral program. Looking towards the future, the EED is positioned to grow and establish stronger connections across the College of Engineering and the field.
