The Arizona Student Unions is looking for talented Banquet Captains to join our team. YOUR ROLE In this role, you will be responsible for and oversee the execution of catered functions. Ensuring the smooth operations of service, food preparation, equipment management and food safety practices for both in-house and off-site events. Duties & Responsibilities * Sets up banquet rooms and events as directed. Responsible for assisting with the set-up, service and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions; sometimes multiple events in a day. * Coordinates orders and table service. Serves the food and/or beverages listed on the Banquet Event Order to the standards of the department expectations of the client in a manner that ensures consistency in all banquet/catered functions. * Greets and welcome guests, assist with seating and food service. Works collaboratively with the Event Planning team to ensure exceptional customer service. Acts as a point of contact for the client and/or host. * Ensures proper presentation and service of food and beverages. Assists in the training and mentoring of food service staff. Ensures safe handling of food and sanitation of equipment. Handles customer complaints and works to find a resolution Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to work evenings and weekends * Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients and colleagues * Advanced knowledge of food safety * Ability to work in a fast-paced stressful environment Knowledge of basic math and computer skills Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs. Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required. * Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. * Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy with prior driving experience upon employment. * Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
