Electrical Senior Design Engineer for the Moog Military Aircraft LLC (MMA), Mission Systems Division In the MMA Mission Systems Division business moves rapidly from inception to fielding. Typical programs can go from inception to flight test hardware within a year; thus, opportunities exist to continuously work on new projects with different levels of engagement, potential to learn in new areas, and to collaborate with some of Moog's best employees. The Mission Systems Division has an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment supporting the emerging Advanced Air Mobility market space for electric powered flight. This person will be immersed in the development of products for critical program that will enhance the Moog portfolio along with significant future business potential. These products include Electric Propulsion Drives, Electric Engines, Aircraft Power Generation Systems and Power Distribution Systems. The nature of this opportunity will also afford the individual the ability to exercise their overall technical skills. As an Electrical Senior Design Engineer in MMA's Mission Systems Division, you will develop complex electrical circuits, functions, system architectures and control systems that will become the new products of MMA. This role will have particular emphasis on the implementation of control electronics for motor drive applications. Therefore, extensive knowledge of motor control theory, application of architectures and interfaces, feedback elements, control systems and control algorithms are a critical requirement. You will plan and conduct efforts requiring authoritative judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Lastly, you will independently devise new approaches for the problems encountered as well as plan and coordinate the work of others on major engineering projects. Interested? Then keep on reading… Here's what you'll work on: * Electronic box architect for motor control electronics used in military and commercial aviation. * Design of electronics hardware including control electronics consisting of microprocessors and FPGAs, sensing devices and feedback circuits * Oversee and review electrical design analyses - hand calculations (first order) and dynamic simulations (Matlab, Simulink, PSpice, PSIM, etc.) * Create system level models, design tools and simulations necessary to support trade studies and solution architectures with customers during early business development efforts. * Determine requirements for and evaluate performance of motor control position and speed feedback elements. * Contribute to proposals for new AAM aircraft projects in accordance with customer requirements. * Mature system architecture/requirements alongside systems engineering team and other engineering disciplines and create requirements for electronics subsystems and functions. * Facilitate design of electronics boxes to cost, reliability and schedule targets. * Facilitate design for manufacturing. * Technical POC for customer, program, and vendors * Mentor and coach other engineers within the electronics department. Here's what you'll need to be considered for this exciting opportunity: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering * 8+ years of progressive relevant technical experience * Extensive experience creating designs of motor control system electronics. * Solid knowledge of circuit design and a wide range of electrical components. Pay Disclaimer: The base pay range represents the low and high end of the Moog pay range or indicates the hourly rate for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
