Title: Assistant Attorney General, Environmental Section State Role Title: Assistant Attorney General Hiring Range: $73,500 Pay Band: UG Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law Location: Office of the Attorney General Agency Website: www.oag.state.va.us Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The attorney in this position will primarily provide assistance to the other lawyers in the Environmental Section including advising and representing state natural resources agencies and may split duties working with the Environmental Section's Animal Law Unit, which prosecutes alleged violators of the Commonwealth's animal laws. This attorney will research and draft pleadings for civil, criminal, and appellate courts and will appear in court. Minimum Qualifications * Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team. * The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of relevant experience, including first and second chair trial work in state courts. * Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, technical drafting skills and the ability to analyze and manage complex cases and transactions. * Practice areas may include environmental, administrative, animal, wildlife, energy, and Indian law. * All candidates must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
