Editorial Assistant, Penguin Workshop Who HQ If you want to be part of a team dedicated to the business of creating dynamic nonfiction books for the #1 New York Times best-selling Who Was? series for young readers, then this role is for you. The Who HQ series seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to the Editorial Director. With over 250 titles, Penguin's Who Was? series tells the incredible stories of trailblazers, legends, innovators, and creators. This role will act as a liaison between authors, agents, and different departments within the company. The Role: * Provides general administrative support for the Who HQ series * Corresponds with authors, agents, and other professional contacts * Writes cover copy, catalog copy, and title information sheets * Writes web copy for the PRH website and external websites * Completes photo and art research as necessary * Prepares detailed and accurate art notes * Prepares manuscripts for production after checking formatting, clarity of art notes, and sequence of all materials * Tracks manuscripts through all stages of editing, design and production * Assists with acquisition paperwork and profit & loss statements * Attends regular editorial and creative meetings * Works on other editorial projects as needed The Essentials: * Interest in nonfiction books for ages 8-11 and a desire to bring exciting nonfiction stories to children * A self-starter fluent in multitasking with impeccable attention to details * Able to problem-solve, and is also comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment * A savvy Google researcher, and is proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Outlook, and also Word, Excel, and PowerPoint * Experience in children's publishing, copywriting and/or editing is a plus The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results. Penguin Random House job postings include a good faith compensation range for each open position.
