Position Summary The Administrative Law Judge for this position conducts quasi-judicial / administrative hearings, pre-hearings, and settlement conferences. The incumbent of this position issues decisions that make findings of fact, conclusions of law and orders; rules on procedural motions; manages full caseload with self-direction; and maintains a record for appeal purposes. The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of administrative law and rules of evidence and have the ability to maintain decorum in an adversarial proceeding. Salary Information This position is assigned to pay schedule-range (09-75) with an annual salary of $95,680.00 - $117,249.60 depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan at the time of hire. Job Details Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. This position may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of the work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and caseload. Qualifications A minimally qualified candidate will be currently licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin and be in good standing with the State Bar of Wisconsin prior to the application deadline. Qualified applicants will have experience (and/or training, as applicable) performing each of the following activities: * Researching, analyzing, and interpreting law * Writing legal documents, including writing motions, briefs, or legal memoranda In addition, well-qualified applicants will also have experience (and/or training, as applicable) with the following: * Conducting legal research, analyzing, and writing for the purpose of administering due process for a tribunal. This may include appearing before, clerking for, or acting as a decision-maker in a tribunal. * Experience administering due process in the role of, or acting on behalf of, a decision-maker for a tribunal and by authoring written decisions * Training in administrative law and/or the administration of due process * Experience appearing as an attorney or decision-maker in legal proceedings that involve administrative law and/or the administration of due process * Experience serving as a decision-maker in a tribunal * Experience providing legal advice related to the administration of due process in administrative law * Experience serving as a legal representative in hearings or disputes involving administrative law How To Apply Apply online!
