Direct Source Meats is now hiring for a Quality Assurance Technician at the San Antonio Cook Plant. Direct Source Meats offers stability with long-term, full-time employment. Direct Source Meats offers high quality, specialty meat products to customers. Established in 2001, DSM's raw plant is a 30,000 square foot USDA facility that specializes in the further processing of beef, chicken and pork for both retail and food service markets. DSM also includes a state of the art, 60,000 square foot cook plant. Description: Responsible for improving and maintaining our quality and food safety programs and standards throughout the entire facility. Includes HACCP and quality monitoring programs and audits for produced products. QA collaborates with other departments as necessary to ensure the product is produced to the highest food safety and quality standards. A QA Technician must have a sense of urgency, have a positive attitude and work in team environment as well as on their own. Work Schedule * New Weekend Shift: Saturday to Monday, 07:00 A.M. to 07:00 P.M. * Overtime available. Preferred Qualifications: * High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree in Animal Science preferred. * Manufacturing: 1-3 years' experience in a RTE or Raw Processing Plant preferred. * QA/QC in the Food Industry: 1-3 years preferred. * Will consider equivalent work experience in Skill Requirements: * Experience in Microsoft windows (MS Excel, MS Word) * Written communication * Must have the ability to add and subtract. * Ability to carry out detailed verbal or written instructions. * Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers. * Ability to acquire job skills within three months of on the job training. * Disposition to perform other duties as assigned. * Requires regular and consistent attendance (Flexibility) * Ability to work independently. * Adaptable * Multitasking * Detail Oriented Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 lbs. * Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head. * Ability to work in cold and hot temperature environment * Full range of sensory and physical abilities required for safe performance. * Walking in and around the facility with great frequency during the shift. Responsibilities: * Pre & Operational Inspections of equipment throughout the entire plant. * Responsible for checking that product being produced/packaged meets customer and plants standards/specifications. * Responsible for overseeing that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) are being implemented at all times and report any violations to QA Management. * Responsible for random collection of samples. * Responsible that sanitary conditions of the working area and equipment is acceptable. * Communicate effectively both written and orally. * Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
