PNNL's Office of STEM Education provides resources for teachers, students, and interns to make participating in STEM education easier, more exciting, and accessible to all. STEM Education guides a portfolio of programs designed to inspire the next generation, equip educators who mentor and teach students, and develop partnerships that create diverse pathways for STEM careers. STEM Education is seeking an undergraduate business intern to assist with STEM activities for students, including event coordination and delivery, student orientations, program communications, and program evaluation. Responsibilities Specific areas of involvement include: * Work closely with Office of STEM Education staff to learn the various aspects of delivering exemplary internships through the PNNL Gold Experience. * Support the delivery of Gold Experience enrichment sessions and activities, including communications, data entry, scheduling, facilitating introductions and networking activities, and other tasks as necessary. * Support program communication efforts, including weekly e-newsletter development. * Assist with compiling feedback and other criteria for program evaluation and reporting. * Provide general program support for other STEM projects as needed and complete general office tasks. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Candidates must have a high school diploma /GED or higher * Candidates must be degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university * Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50. Preferred Qualifications: * Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher. * Previous event planning or coordination experience. * Previous student programming experience. * General office experience. * Experience with writing or editing newsletters or event communications. * Experience working with undergraduate students. * Preferred work schedule for this position will be up to 32 hours a week. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws. Mandatory Requirements Please be aware that the Department of Energy (DOE) prohibits DOE employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a "country of risk" without explicit approval by DOE and Battelle.
