Job Title: Animal Technician
Location: Durham, NC
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Type: Onsite
About the Role:
Join our team as an Animal Care Technician and contribute to groundbreaking research. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and health of laboratory animals. Your daily responsibilities will include animal husbandry, health monitoring, and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care: Provide daily care for research animals, including feeding, watering, enrichment, and cage cleaning.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and sanitized environment for animals, including rooms, isolators, and equipment.
Health Monitoring: Track animal health and report any concerns to management.
Handling and Procedures: Assist with animal handling and procedures according to SOPs and protocols.
Safety: Adhere to safety guidelines, use equipment properly, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Inventory: Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
Euthanasia: Conduct euthanasia procedures as trained and per AVMA guidelines.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree in animal science or a related field preferred.
Experience: Experience in laboratory animal care or agriculture is desirable.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, roll heavy objects, use ladders, and work in various temperature conditions.
Willingness to work with animals and be exposed to potential allergens, odors, and noise.
Must adhere to strict safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Successful completion of an enhanced background check and FIT test.
