Looking for a Lead Operator in our Fall River Wastewater Plant. Candidates require a Massachusetts Grade 6C Full or OIT Wastewater License Required. Job Summary: * Operates and maintains the wastewater treatment plant facilities. * Establishes and maintains effective sample procedures of plant operations and effluent. * Performs routine laboratory tests. * Diagnose operating problems and directs and performs necessary corrective action during work shift. * Prepares required reports and maintain complete record-keeping procedures. * Directs, assigns, and trains employees with those contacted during the course of work. * Communicates with management on project needs and operational issues and performs other duties as required. * During their shift, carries the Operations Cell Phone and 2-Way Radio (if available) with them at all times, being attentive and responsive to alarm texts and incoming calls. * There must be at least one (1) lead operator covering each shift every day. Job Requirements * Responsible for directing shift operations and operators. * Supervises the operation of the wastewater treatment plant or plant process on an assigned shift. * Gives instructions and assignments to plant operators and maintenance workers via work order requests. * Maintains and ensures proper procedures are followed and assumes responsible charge of shift. * Performs operations and maintenance activities including taking samples and performing routine laboratory tests and analyses. * Inspects equipment to locate needed repairs and maintenance. * Makes process control adjustments, reads gauges and meters, records data, prepares necessary shift and log reports. * Determines proper chemical flow rates. * Participates in the training and mentoring of plant operators. * Has knowledge and ability to orchestrate the high flow management plan during rain events. Education/Equivalent: * Minimum high school education. * College level experience preferred. * A minimum of Massachusetts Grade 6C Full or OIT Wastewater License Required. * Knowledge of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of water analyses, and bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in wastewater treatment process; principles of supervision and training; safe work practice. Essential Functions: * Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift. * Must be able to ascend and descend up to 1,100 stair steps per 8-hour shift. * Must be able to lift 50 pounds. * Must be able to bend frequently to collect samples. * This position description is not a contract setting forth the full scope of employment.
