Location: Auburn Hills, MI Reports To: Sr Director of Inside Sales & Estimating Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our Global Pump manufacturing team as a CAD Designer in Auburn Hills, MI. The CAD Designer creates engineering plans and drawings using approved software tools. Design includes the creation of new designs, integration of existing components into workable engineering solutions, and the conversion of existing models into different configurations for a variety of project applications. Responsibilities: * Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop plans, schematics and P&ID drawings for civil and construction projects * Create detailed technical drawings and plans for pump systems and components based on specifications and calculations provided by engineers and designers * Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines * Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes and improvements * Make final sketches of proposed drawings, check dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project * Sketch rough layouts of machines and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and locations of holes * Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings * Draft detailed multi-view drawings of machines and products * Set up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings * Convert existing production drawings to SolidWorks or other approved software * Communicate as needed regarding new and revised prints * Convert written specifications and design requirements into detailed engineering drawings, plans, and schematics * Continuously update and maintain Drafting and Engineering Standards * Use detailed problem-solving techniques to resolve complex engineering and design issues Qualifications: * Associate degree or accredited professional certification in CAD, drafting, engineering technology, or related field preferred * Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit) * 1+ years' experience modeling and detailing mechanical parts in 3D, and transferring existing 2D part drawings into 3D models and detail drawings * Strong understanding of drafting principles, techniques, and standards specific to pump and or civil design * Knowledge of Lean Product Development process is a plus * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy * Strong mathematical and analytical skills * Good communication and teamwork abilities * Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Requirements: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Planning and organizational skills in handling multiple projects * Proficient in MS Office and related PC software applications * Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and/or technical manuals * Ability to work with minimal supervision * Ability to flexibly and effectively work under pressure to meet deadlines * Ability to work flexible schedule to meet job requirements * Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
