Job Summary and Qualifications The financial counselor is responsible for explaining financial benefits to transplant patients. In addition, the financial counselor serves as a liaison between areas such as insurance verification, patient access and the transplant clinic. What you will do: * Explains insurance benefits directly to patients such as co-pays, out of pocket expenses, and other financial information related to transplant benefits. * Work with patients to identify financial programs to assist patient with out of pocket expenses * Enter notes into transplant database regarding patient's financial status. * Coordinate with patient access, insurance verification and other departments to provide the best patient experience * Participate in meetings to discuss financial issues on presented patients. * Assist in other duties such as obtaining insurance authorization, letter of agreements and submitting paperwork on behalf of the patient What qualifications you will need: Education: High School or GED Required Experience: Minimum of one year experience working in a hospital or physician setting working insurance authorizations and financial counseling Methodist Hospital opened in 1963 as the first hospital in the now internationally acclaimed South Texas Medical Center.
