Job purposeThe primary responsibility of the Plant Engineering Manager is to maintain and improve the overall operation of the facility. The Plant Engineering Manager will provide technical direction to the facility by focusing on engineering and maintenance resources to support uninterrupted operations. The position will also manage process and packaging improvements and execution of new products and line extensions. Main Responsibilities • Provide a high level of service to all plant departments as a technical and strategic resource to maximize plant capability and protect plant assets. • Work with Operational Excellence and plant leaders to drive out loss through lean initiatives. Work specifically on ROI projects throughout the company that reduce costs to the bottom line or increase line efficiencies. • Maintain control of schedules, department costs, safety, and quality of work at all times. Position will present project updates, project timelines, and expected results to Company Executives. • Manage third party service contracts by developing requirements, qualifying vendors, and providing service monitoring / improvements.  • Responsible for the direction, analysis and support of process inefficiencies and troubleshooting of malfunctioning or underperforming equipment. • Must ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including air quality, waste water discharge quality, hazardous material disposal, storm water, and waste disposal. Qualifications/Required Skills • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required with 10 years in food processing industry or relative experience. Experience with boilers, steam and condensate systems, mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and waste water treatment in a food processing industry. Strong working knowledge on mechanical maintenance principles, basic electrical skills, electronic/PLC programming skills, etc. • Language Skills: The ability to prepare, format, proofread and edit documents, which are succinct and professional, are a key responsibility for this position. Must have effective oral and written communication skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to conduct professional and compelling presentations and respond to questions from groups of managers and senior executives within the company. • Reasoning Ability: This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make the decisions required in day-to-day activities and solves problems with minimal direction. Must be detailed and have strong organizational skills. Must be a team player, able to react to change productively, be flexible, and to accept changing assignments and accountabilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. • Computer Skills: Essential skills include PC experience using Windows applications, such as Word and Excel. The ability to independently format professional documents. Other Details• Work Environment: The work environment is a traditional office with approximately 10-15% travel involved. Individual must be capable of carrying up to 50 lbs while traveling. Must be flexible to occasionally work overtime.
