Posting Number F00394P Position Title Assistant Professor/Technical Director of Theatre Department Art and Theatre FLSA Salary Not listed Grant Funded No Location Main Campus Faculty, Staff, Admin or Student Faculty Number of Vacancies 1 Desired start date 01/01/2025 Position Summary The Department of Speech Communication and Theatre in the College of Liberal Arts is seeking applications for its position as Assistant Professor/Technical Director of Theatre. Qualifications Minimum Required Education An M.F.A. in Technical Direction or Design is preferred. Candidates with commensurate experience will also be given serious consideration. Minimum Required Experience Preferred consideration will be given to applicants with experience with the following: * Vectorworks or AutoCAD, * MIG and/or TIG welding, * wood and metal construction techniques, * theatrical engineering, sound, props construction, OSHA safety protocols, and theatrical rigging Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications No licenses and/or certifications are required. Qualifications * Must be capable of working at heights and perform occasional heavy lifting. * Must have knowledge of tools and equipment needed. Skills and Abilities No skills and abilities are required. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Supervise and assist as needed with set and stage construction and management. * Operate, maintain and safeguard the technical assets of the theatre; including supervise the use of lighting, sound, equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities. * Monitor Tech Week rehearsals in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the mounting of the show. * Attend production strike at the close of the run of the show. * Supervise the building of set and scenery pieces, mount the scenery onstage, oversee the work of the scenic crews during rehearsals and performances, and maintain the shop's equipment and supplies. * Teach departmental classes, which include, but not limited to Technical Theatre, Stage Lighting, and Scenic Design. * Perform other duties as assigned.
