This role is integral to advancing the agency's mission of reducing recidivism and promoting successful reintegration for individuals returning to the community. The Director of Programs will manage strategic partnerships, including the agency's ongoing collaboration with current partners on cognitive-behavioral, substance use disorder, and sex offender management programs, ensuring that all initiatives are aligned with best practices and contribute to measurable outcomes. The incumbent will be able to demonstrate the following skills: Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in reentry, corrections, and offender rehabilitation; Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate staff and foster collaboration, effective communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders, partners, and staff; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements, and; Familiarity with strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: This position manages the Cognitive Based Treatment programs of the department as directed. This position will provide general oversight of the cognitive and reentry programs in the department, including sex offender, substance abuse, family, job readiness and Core Adult in the facilities and parole offices as directed. This includes managing/monitoring contracts when the programs are delivered by contract providers; overseeing the administration of the programs; ongoing review of the referral process; group structure; group management; and completion rates. This also includes serving as a liaison from KDOC to the providers related to all staffing issues, including monitoring of recruitment, retention, KDOC training, facility/parole office access, and background checks. Also serving as liaison to the provider's program administrator for all necessary data collection and reporting. This position will work with all appropriate staff in Central Office, facilities and parole, to ensure program providers, KDOC or contract, are properly trained in curricula, core correctional practices, and any other training needed to deliver robust groups. This will include core training and follow up training as needed. This position will diagnose ongoing training needs and assist in ensuring the training is delivered. This position will review all programming, and stay current on literature and research, to ensure programming is evidence based and adhering to the Risk, Need, Responsivity, Dose and Fidelity principles and concepts. This position will coordinate the delivery of the programs with reentry, case management, classification administrators, caseload carriers, administrative staff, and any other as necessary to ensure the program is effectively delivered with fidelity and according to evidence based and core correctional practices. This position will supervise the Cognitive Services Manager, and working closely with that person ensure the fidelity of programs. This includes an observation and feedback process; development of supervisors as coaches; ongoing coaching; ongoing booster sessions; and otherwise using strategies to implement fidelity as a key principle in programming. This position will also perform other duties as required. * Must be capable of performing Essential Physical Functions (See attachment to Position Description) * Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in planning, organizing and directing the work of a department, program or agency. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Preferred Qualifications: Four-year degree in corrections, criminal justice or one of the social sciences. 2 years' experience working with the offender population or another high risk/need group. 2 years' experience monitoring contracts or quality assurance. 2 years' experience in reviewing technical materials and technical report writing. 2 years' experience supervising or coaching. 2 years' experience facilitating groups. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to positive influence people and change.
