SUMMARY Under general supervision, is responsible for developing contacts in the business community to secure training and job placement opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The Job Developer's office will primarily be located in the Bronx but will require floating between our Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island offices as well. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Job Developer will include, but are not limited to the following: * Establishes and maintains contacts with business community and ACCESS-VR in order to place individuals with developmental disabilities into competitive employment. * Responsible for researching and securing new job sites / developing relationships with new companies to increase job placements. * Collects and documents information about employment leads including required skill level, hours of employment, accessibility, etc. * Works with employer from initial contact through job specifications and total needs of employers job. * Communicates mission and philosophy of supported employment to potential employers clearly. * Provides participants with job search services, including resume writing and interview preparation. * Responsible for job matching a participant's experience, temperament, and stated work setting and goals to place participant in a job best suited for them. * Assists prospective employees in securing interviews and escorts them to actual interview. * Utilizes public transportation to get to and from job fairs and interviews. * Must be willing to be trained as a job coach and carry a caseload as needed. * Attends staff meetings and in-service training as required. * Ensures that services are rendered to with utmost regard for their personal dignity. * Communicates job specifications to Rehabilitation, Sr. Coordinator and supported work staff in order for them to coordinate his information with individuals needs. * Completes all paperwork accurately, neatly and timely. * Participates intake meetings and conferences. * Keeps abreast of changes in field. * Performs other related duties as requested. QUALIFICATIONS * Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. * Good interpersonal skills are required in order to interact effectively with employees, co-workers, other departments, families, potential employers, outside contacts, etc. * Due to sensitive nature of the position, must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality. * Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. * Good organizational skills * Availability and willing ness to work varied work schedules and work environments. * Ability to travel to various places of potential employment for trainees and meeting sites via public transportation. * * Ability to relate to special populations and to understand the principles of behavior management. * Good oral and written communications skills EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * High School Diploma or GED and some specialized training. Bachelor's Degree is preferred. * One year of similar work or work considered to be preparatory to the position. Pay Rate: $29.70/hour + Industry-Leading Benefits!
