Job Summary The Associate Technology Engineer role is an important role in our network group. The role is involved in the full system life cycle of our network infrastructure for the PSEG enterprise from development to operations and leads many of the activities and tasks. This position is specifically responsible for configuring, testing, implementing and supporting Wi-Fi services across the PSEG enterprise. Additional technologies within the scope of the role are: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco's Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco's Network Access Control (NAC), and other network technologies that may emerge over time. Job Responsibilities This role also involves: * Architects, designs, configures, tests, implements, reviews, supports and presents on premises and cloud networking solutions. * Identifies tasks as automation candidates and performs the actual automation implementation. * Identifies technical requirements and providing cost effective solutions to meet desired business outcomes, improve productivity and enable business growth. * Validates new requests with existing architecture to verify compatibility and to ensure that business needs are met. * Develops / communicates reusable architecture policies, standards, regulatory, guidelines, procedures and metrics. * Takes actions and ensures the existing network facilities portfolio under IT management is supported and reliable through life cycle plans and investment road maps. * Ensures that the design and application implementation meets security and QA standards. * Suggests fixes to issues by doing a thorough analysis of root cause and impact of the defect. * Stays abreast of the technology advancements and trends. * Provides daily support with resolution of escalated tickets. * Maintains existing Service Level Agreements. Job Specific Qualifications Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) * Minimum of 2 years working as a technical engineer and or architect with experience in designing, developing, coding, implementing, operating, supporting & managing network projects, solutions and or IT systems. * Previous experience managing and maintaining Wi-Fi Infrastructure. * Excellent communication, leadership and consultative skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. Desired: * Graduate degree in Information Systems, related discipline or MBA * Advanced professional training & certifications in technical specialties such as Cisco CCT, CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCIE; Project Management Professional (PMP), organization change management, Lean Six Sigma, business process modeling / re-engineering, ITIL, etc. * Knowledge of the infrastructure technologies such as: Cisco Switches, Routers, Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Wireless Controllers, Cisco ISE, NAC, Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, etc.), Directory Services (LDAP, ONS, DNS, AD), Configuration Management Databases (CMDB), ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Cybersecurity, etc * Network scripting and automation using ansible, python or related technologies. * Knowledge of the Utility business.
