Help Duties As a Materials Engineer, you will provide technical assessments and analysis support on the structural behavior of nuclear grade materials and research programs to NRC staff and management pertaining to reactor systems and components. Duties include but are not limited to: * Participating in the development and direction of research programs to evaluate materials engineering issues pertaining to the structural behavior of nuclear grade materials and components and evaluate degradation in aging nuclear reactor components. * Performing the review and evaluation of assigned portions of research projects from a materials engineering standpoint. * Conferring with technical representatives of organizations having interests and responsibilities in the materials engineering aspects of nuclear power plants. * Serving as member cognizant of and responsible for expressing the interests of the NRC on ASME, ASTM, or ANSI national standards committees of working and review levels developing standards for use as a basis for licensing decisions. * Preparing response to questions or comments from public or other government agencies regarding standards or issues in area of expertise. * Presenting to the ACRS and its subcommittees and internal NRC review.
