Employment Opportunity Butler County Educational Service Center July 23, 2024 STARTING DATE: August 2024 SALARY: $16.78-$17.91 per hour based on education and experience BENEFITS: Excellent benefits for all full time employees WORK YEAR: Full Time - 260 days DEADLINE: 7/27/24 for internal candidates; until filled for all outside candidates APPLY TO: Apply by clicking here: application POSITION: Facilities and Maintenance Specialist GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Facilities and Maintenance Specialist will ensure operational maintenance & custodial needs of facilities and equipment and manage the receipt and delivery of mail, equipment and supplies. QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent preferred. * Six (6) months experience in maintenance procedures and responsibilities. * Ability to operate a variety of custodial and maintenance equipment. * Ability to lift and move moderate to heavy amounts of weight. * Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. * Ability to comply with all health, safety and sanitation regulations. * Valid Ohio driver's license with good driving record and demonstrate insurability for vehicle operation under the current Fleet Insurance Plan. * Ability to manage time effectively to meet the goal of the position. * Willingness/ability to work as a team member. * Good organizational skills. * History of good job attendance. * Must pass criminal background check, and be free from communicable diseases. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * To assist in managing the receipt and delivery of equipment and supplies. * To assure the cleanliness and orderly appearance of facilities and equipment. * To perform facility and equipment maintenance/repair as requested or assigned. * To perform custodial services as assigned. * To perform snow & ice removal and operate snow equipment. * To perform playground inspections quarterly or more often if necessary. * To perform center safety inspections quarterly or more often if necessary. * To work with supervisor in establishing guidelines for assignment of responsibilities for major and minor repairs including emergency repairs and requests. * To move furniture or equipment within buildings as necessary. * To maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment. * To conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, custodial needs update and repair that is ongoing * To assist with the submission of all required reports as necessary for inventory control. * To report the presence of unauthorized or atypical visitors. * To confer with supervisors regarding progress, concerns and recommendations. * To maintain records and files as required. * To plan and organize own work to meet priorities. * To meet deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly). * To maintain confidentiality in district matters. * To continuously update and improve professional competence. * To comply with state and federal regulations that pertain to the position (e.g. OSHA, OCR). * To perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned. OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: * To serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. * To help instill in the students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Board policies and procedures, building policies and procedures. Ability to: Interpret policies and procedures, work successfully in a culturally diverse environment, follow instructions, communicate effectively, maintain files and reports, collect data; schedule; lift up to 75 pounds, remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, position self to work on equipment including under desks or atop a ladder. Work successfully in a culturally diverse environment. Skill in: Basic math, English and communications. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Cleaning equipment, floor cleaning and polishing equipment, lawn mowers, tree trimming equipment and other customary custodial & maintenance equipment, van. ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional: Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, dust, fumes, loud noise, irritating and hazardous chemicals, unruly children/adults; travels to and gains access to worksite; required to be on call. Frequent: Exposure to inclement weather driving conditions and severe weather; bending, lifting, and moving. Constant: Exposure to traffic and construction hazards. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
