Summary The Communications Specialist (Webmaster/SharePoint Coordinator) serves as the Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHCS) specialist and project manager for internet and SharePoint (intranet) product development, and social media management. The employee plans, organizes, and leads projects that require technical skills, effective work organization, and superior customer service. Videos Help Duties Duties of the Communications Specialist position include but are not limited to the following: * Serves as facility specialist on web product development and web project management. * Primary coordinator for the development and maintenance of the facility internet, social media, and SharePoint sites. * Coordinates with various levels of leadership, program managers and staff to facilitate effective utilization of electronic methodologies to meet strategic objectives. * Electronically catalogues data fact sheets, graphics, policies, etc. for the health care system. * Coordinates with the Public Affairs Officer to disseminate information to the public and staff through the use of the internet and intranet sites. * Regularly demonstrates the use of the intranet to staff during scheduled staff meetings. * Researches and evaluates new and emerging methods for web product development and web project management. * Prepares and presents concept and strategy papers and/or presentations. * Identifies opportunities to improve the Facility's performance. * Maintains and modifies the VAMC's SharePoint site and ensures the internet and intranet sites remain functional. * Provides technical direction and assistance to staff who are assigned to develop products for SharePoint and other electronic information delivery. * Assists users in uploading documents, troubleshoots user access issues, and runs scheduled back ups. * Develops new web product development and web project management policies, procedures, and guidelines. * Serves as an advocate for web product development and web project management techniques. * Performs other duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level GS without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education or have completed a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. OR, * Combination (Transcripts required): Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D in a related field of the position to be filled. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
