This is a technical position reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering, Supervisor and may take direction from a Lead. Responsibilities of this position will include the ability to use techniques to provide quality models for product customer presentations, leading edge design evaluations and test fixtures. The ideal candidate shall be motivated while working under the supervision of senior staff. It will be necessary to work with functional Teams dealing directly with Zebra's technical staff, sales marketing, users, customers, and business partners to ensure that the goals and objectives are properly identified and achieved within the appropriate schedule requirements. Must work 5 days a week in Holstville, NY. Responsibilities: * Developement of mechanical prototypes through the creation of solid visual models and various prototypes using drawings and/or MCAD files in support the product life cycle development executing on prototyping activities, repair, rework or finishing of models and parts. * Support model generation in all phases from concept to post-production which may include collaborating to use methods and tools within the scope of prototyping necessary to complete the customer requirement. * Knowledge of area specific operations, precautions, prevention, signage for the protection of people, data, and property in accordance with EH&S, security, and IT regulations. * Collaborate with teams and externally to research/benchmark technologies for the implementation of new technologies and/or to enhance capabilities for the advancement of prototype development creating a competitive advantage with Zebra products. * Participate with the Lab's vendor/customer requirements, purchassing, equipment service contracts for materials and facilitate equipment maintainance. * Contrinbute with the creation of status reports, lab metrics, and budget execution, to ensure timely execution on required deliverables for business compliance. * Adhere to internal policies and procedures in order to comply with ISO requirements. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications * High School diploma or GED * 1+ years of prototype model making experience. * Experienced with mechanical prototyping equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Experience with 3D printers. * Knowledge of mechanical prototyping design techniques and general principles.
