Microsoft Global Security team focuses on building and delivering connected, accessible, sustainable, and secure campuses worldwide. We are looking to hire a Senior Program Manager (PM) - Background Screening, to join our Global Security Operations and Background Screening team. In this role the candidate will be responsible for ensuring all new hires, current employees and suppliers requiring a background check are properly processed and adjudicated in accordance with Microsoft policy. The Senior PM will maintain all documentation with regard to each background check conducted in accordance with Microsoft document retention policies. The Senior PM will also be responsible for conducting any additional research to resolve issues developed in the individual's background check. Required/Minimum Qualifications * 4+ years experience in Security Program or Program Management or related field. Additional or Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Business Risk, Security Program or Program Management or related field AND 8+ years experience in Security Program or Program Management * OR equivalent experience. * Deep understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding corporate security and background screening. * Supplier Account Management a plus * Proven track record of managing complex projects. * Experience in a security or risk management role, preferably within a corporate environment * Demonstrated analytical, communication, interviewing, and report-writing skills. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year. Security Risk Management * Identifies security threats by gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information about existing, or potential threats to determine the likelihood of a Microsoft infrastructure, business, people, and assets being targeted. Monitors the development of current, emerging, and evolving threats with the likelihood of impacting Microsoft infrastructure, business, people, and assets. Identifies assets or operations where security is not adequate and can be exploited by a threat. Informs and escalates the risks to appropriate teams. * Designs and monitors controls to treat risks to infrastructure, business, people, and assets. Monitors the effectiveness of measures taken to modify risks. Monitors the security aspects of assets/projects throughout the asset or project lifecycle. Supports the development of plans of action and milestones to track and mitigate risks. Security Services * Executes and assists in developing procedures and processes to provide protection across programs by meeting required codes and regulations. Maintains records, manuals, and documentation related to security and background screening. Participate in discussions regarding administering organizational security plans and operations. * Develop troubleshooting guides and standard monitoring procedures to oversee daily activities across networks and systems. Performs analysis to detect risks, and/or gaps in screening, and escalates to critical response team and/or external authorities, if necessary. Delivers and maintains security programs in areas of responsibility. * Coordinates delivery of day-to-day background screening activities in the areas of industry hire screening operations, venture acquisition operations, supplier screening operations, and contract screening. Leadership * Assists in developing public, private, and supplier security partnerships. Supports stakeholder engagements (e.g., human resources [HR], suppliers, maintenance) and helps communicate risk assessment findings. Coordinates activities with HR, legal, and authorities having jurisdiction as appropriate. * Establish a strategic vision and service model that can meet the challenges of a changing environment, improving the on boarding process while attaining fiscally responsible cost goals ensuring consistency in approach, and delivery of services. Summarizes and reports risk analysis to internal stakeholders and leaders. * Provide leadership and strategic direction to suppliers providing support ensuring all contract service levels are being met. Design and Project Management * Manage process improvements, quality and service levels; using performance metrics, supplier scorecards, periodic reviews, and other means, provide feedback on supplier performance, quality, customer service and technical capabilities. * Identify and implement innovations and technology improvements for new and existing applications Background Screening * Conducts pre-employment background checks, re-screening of existing employees, pre-engagement screening, re-screening of external staff, and engagement screening of Microsoft resources who are to be deployed on customer contracts or projects. Investigates ambiguous, discrepant, misleading, or false information provided by candidates during the course of their background check, interviews candidates to resolve ambiguities, validates information with external sources (e.g., universities, prior employers, courts), and collects evidence.
