It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. Provide student centered teaching and learning which is accessible, friendly and working towards the successful development of each welding student. Oversee appropriate welding machine maintenance (preventive and repair) and provide training and instruction for current welding faculty and students. Coordinate repairs, installations, trainings, and deliveries from outside vendors. Provide industry personnel tours/answering questions for potential students. Provide students with proper techniques in the use of and proper handling of welding machines. Support and assist Workforce Solutions instructors and staff in providing a quality teaching /learning environment by setting up labs, maintaining and ordering lab equipment and supplies, directing and supporting welding instructors and delivering lab and lecture instruction as assigned. This is a grant funded position. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications 1. Ability to operate welding equipment and oxy-fuel torch system. 2. Ability to utilize computerized systems, including familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software. 3. Ability to instruct students and make oral and written presentations 4. Ability to operate measurement and inspection equipment such as digital and analog volt/amp/ohm multi-meters. 5. Ability to operate audiovisual equipment such as a projector or smartboard. 6. Ability to operate forklift and material moving equipment safely. 7. Knowledge of Safety (OSHA, etc.) 8. Knowledge of procurement, preferably eVA Knowledge of inventory. 9. Occupational experience in welding 10.
