Summary: Introduction to the operation of the printing press. Includes handling of newsprint rolls, preparing for operation, plating, running of the press, and cleaning and routine maintenance. What you will do: * Under supervision, will train on operation of the press units, including plating, setting ink and rollers, webbing, and operating controls * Newsprint roll handling, newsprint warehouse operations, and reel room operations * Operate forklift/clamp truck in a safe, competent manner * Press maintenance tasks * Work in a safe manner using all appropriate safety equipment, including guards and safe buttons What you will bring: * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing * Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus * Regular and reliable attendance * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) * Machine operation experience preferred * Warehouse operations experience, including fork lift operation, preferred Work Environment: * Operates in a warehouse and printing plant environment * Routinely uses pallet jacks and forklifts * Work with chemicals, loud noise, dusty areas and moving parts safely and wear hearing protection the entire shift * This job is not a remote position; employee will report to a production plant Who we are: Bay Area News Group, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.
