Job Summary Media Production Coordinator The Media Production Coordinator ensures that all studio, control room, and production systems are properly configured and supported for both recorded and live events. This role requires a mastery of audio, video, and lighting production, coupled with a passion for leading the student production team. The Studio Production Coordinator facilitates the integration of design best practices, college requirements, and technical support issues. They oversee the design, upgrade path, maintenance, and operational effectiveness of the studio learning environments for ABAC. Staying abreast of emerging technologies and applying best practices to maintain and enhance our studio production systems is a key responsibility. This position also maintains communication between multiple colleges and external groups involved in producing content and live events. The coordinator leads a hand-selected student media team, provides value to both students through the practical application of media content creation best practices and the college through the archival recording of campus events. Job Responsibilities Operation, Preventive Maintenance, and Refreshes of Production Environments (35%) * Work with instructors, students, and staff to promote the use of the studio and college media technology. * Oversee inventory and operational maintenance of all campus AV equipment. * Coordinate the student/staff equipment checkout system and maintain an accurate inventory of AV equipment. * Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in equipment offerings and innovative broadcast and live production technologies. * Actively communicate with the team and other stakeholders to coordinate the timely delivery of multiple ongoing projects. * Ingest media, log, organize footage, create archives, and maintain backups. * Oversee editing and live switching of broadcast content. Train, Mentor, and Lead Student Media Production Staff and Team Management (35%) * Lead and coordinate a diverse team of students, assigning tasks based on individual strengths and project requirements. Ensure clear communication and collaboration within the team to meet project deadlines and quality standards. Implement strategies to address any performance issues and support continuous improvement. * Provide comprehensive training for student media production staff, ensuring they develop the technical skills needed for content creation and idea dissemination. Offer ongoing mentorship to foster their professional growth and creativity. * Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals and timelines. Utilize project management tools to track progress and facilitate efficient workflow. * Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to share with the team. * Participate in the recruitment process for new team members, including interviewing and selecting candidates. * Support and encourage a variety of student original and historical content. Provide Support for Campus Instructional Technology (20%) * Support Technology support by engaging, diagnosing, and resolving issues promptly. * Document common issues. * Coordinate creation of technology job aids for end user systems to ensure just-in-time training opportunities. Professional Development and Other Duties as Assigned (10%) Desired Experience * Bachelor's degree in Production, Mass Media, or Communication preferred but not required. * Technical Proficiency: Exceptional technical aptitude in audio and video production, including live streaming and recording of events such as lectures, athletics, awards presentations, and fine art events. * Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to changes in technology and apply best practices for maintaining and improving studio learning production systems. * Content Creation: Experience in creating instructional videos, audio, infographics, data visualizations, and interactive multimedia. * Broadcast and Audio Technologies: * Proficiency with broadcast video and audio routers. * Knowledge of Dante audio systems. * Experience with digital video and audio distribution and switching. * Familiarity with SMPTE fiber-connected video cameras and signal distribution over fiber optic cable. * Skills in broadcast camera maintenance and NDI workflow. * Competence in using broadcast graphics and replay systems. * Networking and Systems: Advanced IP networking skills and experience with multi-venue/centralized broadcast suites.
