The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Student Activities welcomes applications for the position of Student Orientation Leader Salary Range $10.00 an hour. Essential Functions Orientation Leaders play a crucial role in welcoming and supporting new students and their families/guests as they transition to UTPB. Ideal candidates will be collaborative and innovative partners who possess strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. This person should be able to work independently and lead with kindness and integrity. 1. Serve as mentors and resources for new students and their families/guests 2. Facilitate small and large group activities, present content to incoming students and families, and lead campus tours 3. Assist in each orientation session that includes preparation, set-up, and tear down 4. Exhibit a positive outlook towards all aspects of UT Permian Basin and willing to share their experience as a Falcon 5. Maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA during employment 6. OL Training Availability: Participate in all training sessions conducted between May 20th and June 14th, contributing to the facilitation of training components and actively engaging with teammates and campus partners during these sessions. 7. Orientation Program Availability: Maintain availability for all orientation sessions, with exceptions possible for pre-determined commitments during 1-2 sessions, such as in-person classes. Must attend Welcome Week in August. a. Orientation dates are June 17-18, June 24-25, July 15-16, July 22-23, July 25, and August 21 (Must be present in Odessa the day before each orientation session) b. Welcome Week is August 19 - August 30 c. Summer classes: Due to the nature of orientation and the time it takes to run the program, OLs are only permitted to take one in-person class each summer session. Minimum 2.0 GPA 2. Returning student for Fall 2024 3. Full-time student during long semester (12+ credit hours as an undergraduate; 9 credit hours as a graduate student) 4. Good standing with the Office of the Dean of Students Preferred Qualifications 1. Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Schedule Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments. Standard Working Conditions 1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. 2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously. 3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously. 4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time. 5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement. 6.
