Location: Fleming Middle School Department: Fleming MS Area:Central Contract Months:10 Salary Range: $35,000.00 - $41,000.00 Academic Year: 24-25 JOB SUMMARY Under direct supervision, performs duties that are instructional in nature or may deliver direct services to students or parents. Serves in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. Assists with test administration. May provide specialized assistance for students with special needs. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists teacher(s) with student academic goals, by working with small groups of children or an individual child. * Assists teacher(s) in the enforcement of classroom management and behavioral plans, creating an environment that is appropriate for learning. * Assists with supervising students during breakfast, recess, lunch, dismissal, special events, and programs. * Assists teacher(s) in the preparation of paperwork for the ARD/IEP process. Collects and enters data for completion of special education reports and documents. * Assists teacher(s) with the planning, preparation and implementation of differentiated instruction for individual students and groups. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED N/A EDUCATION Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification.  The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall: * Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours) of college course work. * Possess an associate's (or higher) degree; or * Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment-Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) [formerly the TASP test] or the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA), verifying knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics. WORK EXPERIENCE 1 to 3 years SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff. WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities. BUDGET AUTHORITY No budget development activity is required. PROBLEM SOLVING Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas. IMPACT OF DECISIONS Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience. COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates. WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
