Position Summary The City of Dania Beach is committed to employing a talented and diverse workforce. We are currently seeking a Recreation Program Manager to join our dynamic Parks and Recreation Team. The ideal individual will perform work with wide latitude for independent judgment in developing and managing recreation programs, activities, and facilities for the community. Duties & Responsibilities * Plans, develops, organizes and manages seasonal and yearly leisure-time programs and activities for various interests including sports, aquatics, youth programs, creative arts, camps, special events, instructional classes, social activities, fitness/wellness, leagues, competitions, general recreation and others. * Manages recreation facilities including recreation centers, swimming pools, nature parks, tennis complexes, special facilities and others offering park and recreation services; identifies and rectifies safety hazards. * Recruits, schedules, supervises, instructs, trains and advances the knowledge and skills of recreation employees in procedures and policies, delivery of services, as well as equipment use and maintenance. * Evaluates subordinates in performance of duties (including safety compliance); gives advice, provides resources and facilitates work teams towards objectives satisfaction. * Plans, promotes, and supervises varied recreation, social and educational activities at an assigned recreation facility and plans, organizes, schedules, coordinates and presents specialized recreation and education programs. * Schedules facilities, equipment and staff for various activities and programs of the assigned recreation area. * Recruits, trains and supervises contract instructors, professionals, officials and volunteers for scheduled activities. * Stimulates community interest in programs and services through contacts with news media, special interest groups and agencies. * Inspects facilities and equipment and recommends repairs, improvements, renovations and additions accordingly. * Monitors expenditures, revenue generation and assists in preparation of operating budgets; ensures adherence to established budgetary parameters. * Requisitions and controls use of equipment and materials. * Develops objectives, action plans and long-range plans regarding recreation programs and functions under charge. * Monitors and analyzes work measurement system report and other generated reports; * Manages special projects and service contracts. * Assist with any issues or special events at and other facilities such as IT Parker, CW Thomas, Frost Park and PJ Melli. * Provides exceptional customer service and work with disgruntled or upset participants to handle their complaints. Qualifications What's required:(Minimum Requirements) * Associate's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Education, or a related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. * A Minimum of four (4) years of full-time professional experience in organized recreation work at a significant supervisory level. * Possession of a valid driver's license with an overall good driving record is required. If the driver's license is out of state, must be able to obtain a Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of the hire date. What's preferred: (Desired Requirements) * Eight (8) years of full-time professional experience in organized recreation work at a significant supervisory level. * Certified Parks & Recreation Professionals (CPRP) preferred
