Position Summary The Senior Materials Engineer position applies materials science and engineering concepts, including the knowledge of development / testing and material properties required to meet evolving performance and application demands. Roles within this group work to prepare project plans, controls & specifications, schedules, cost estimates, testing and/or coordination of key project deliverables. Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities: * Execute material compounding projects to meet compound technology roadmap commitments on time and on schedule * Develop new compounding strategies based on new raw material application rule sets General Responsibilities: * Leads projects or processes of diverse scope, while working independently with limited supervision * Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals * Supports continuous improvement/automation activities * Makes recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials * May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications * Coordinates pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes * Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders * Creation and management of institutional knowledge * Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical degree * Experience in Materials development, Compound development, or Product formulation Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of Industry experience OR Master's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
