This position will work with a dedicated team that focuses on Mobile First and Cloud First backend development. Bring your A game as this team is a group of highly skilled engineers. Starting with a product's conception, your involvement will be required throughout the entire product lifecycle. You must be a team player with an optimistic outlook and be able to deliver a complete product for our various customers. This position will be filled as a Software Developer I ($70,628.00 - $109,473.40) or Software Developer II ($77,867.40 $120,694.47) based upon qualifications. Duties: The Software Developer I/II develops front end applications for the Department of Information Technology mobile first initiatives. The role will develop, support, update and improve legacy front end applications' code bases. In addition, there is the opportunity to expand and support various AWS back-end solutions as well. The Software Developer I/II duties include but are not limited to: * Develop Mobile First applications that include responsive web, Hybrid (Ionic Capacitor), Vue, React, React Native, and Native (iOS, Android) * Assist in code/deploy Cloud solutions that support the Mobile-First development and variety of different projects * Develop technical design and documentation for current and emerging cloud systems * Participate in formal and informal training and onboarding in emerging technologies * Collaborate across different teams to design, develop and launch new features * Implement security and data protection in a distributed application architecture * Propose and implement improvements in the evolving CI/CD * Effectively and efficiently unit test applications and participate in integration, regression, and system testing activities * Participate in developing software development estimates, plans and schedules * Use best practices and standards in coding for Mobile First * Work effectively with other City staff members to ensure a coordinated and efficient use of resources compatible with overall City policies * Participate in, follow, and improve team protocol/procedures in all stages of the SDLC process * This position offers a remote/hybrid work schedule arrangement within the Virginia and North Carolina surrounding areas.
