Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as Rehabilitation Counselor 1 if they have: * Bachelor's degree in a human service field and * 3 years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions. * Substitution: Master's degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. OR Candidates from outside and within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Rehabilitation Counselor 2 eligible list. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Duties Description As a Rehabilitation Counselor 2, you will provide a full range of rehabilitative/habilitative services to individuals with more complex issues, including: * Assessing individuals' rehabilitative needs and coordinating necessary psychosocial, educational, and/or vocational services. * Monitoring and documenting progress toward established goals and objectives. * Determining what changes have occurred as a result of treatment plan. * Assuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
