Job Description: This is an on-site, in-person position. DESCRIPTION The Hospitality Management Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed to complete the Hospitality Management program. The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The instructor will teach 15 hours/week for 12 weeks of classroom instruction. The instructor is responsible for establishing a positive and welcoming classroom environment, where all students have the ability to learn. Duties and responsibilities include: Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interact professionally and respectfully with other employees, clients, and the public. Work effectively as a team contributor. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and outside organizations. Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for instruction in the Hospitality Management program including but not limited to the following courses or curriculum area: Introduction to Hospitality, Human Resource Management, Hospitality Math and Finance, Front and Back of House Operations, Food and Beverage Management, Sales and Marketing, Food Production and Kitchen Management, Restaurant Property Management, and Event and Conference Planning. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery. Participate in staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Workforce Department. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance and maintaining availability for student assistance and counseling, etc. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: A minimum of 3 years' experience hospitality management. Teaching experience highly preferred, not required. Industry certification preferred. Flexible Schedule to accommodate class schedules; classes will generally run 3 to 5 days per week. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills required. Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities. Ability to interact with business and industry to establish partnerships Experience: Previous teaching experience in the Hospitality Management programs, preferred. Requirements: Requirements: A minimum of one year to two years of teaching hospitality training programs, knowledge of current industry sector needs, willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a proven ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for students from diverse backgrounds are all requirements of this position. Experience working with non-traditional students is strongly preferred. Some evening and occasional weekend hours may be required in additional to travel to our Boston center.
