The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer. Overview/Responsibilities: The GA will work with the animal and plant specimens in the Natural History Collection within the Department of Biological Sciences. Duties may include: * mounting, labeling, preparing, and/or maintaining specimens * identifying species according to currently recognized taxonomy * data entry * assembling and maintaining public displays of specimens * maintaining the collection's online and social media presence. This position will enable the GA to develop skills and experience in museum curation, database management, and the science of taxonomy. These skills are valuable to individuals who are interested in a career in museum science, organismal or evolutionary biology, or systematics. Opportunities may become available to contribute to research projects involving the collection or analysis of biological specimens.
