Position Summary Job Summary: The Office of Advancement staff work closely with other departments to advance the institution financially, strengthen its reputation and develop relationships with key constituents, including alumni, current students, parents, and friends. The Office of Advancement seeks front desk assistant workers to support the Alumni Relations Office and the SU Annual Fund. We are seeking students who are available to work 4-10 hours per week, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. throughout the academic year. Specific Responsibilities: * Greet and welcome visitors to the Alumni House. * Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate staff members. * Assist alumni, students, faculty & staff with questions and concerns regarding alumni relations and the annual fund, including the senior champions program. * Manage, respond, or forward emails from general alumni and annual fund accounts to appropriate staff members. * Develop and maintain event registration pages * Assist with major events and programs (i.e. Family Weekend, Homecoming, Break Through, etc.). * Assist and support other tasks and projects as assigned. * Uphold confidentiality and privacy of alumni records as required by University Policy and FERPA. Learning Objectives * This position will have to understand and present office etiquette with their dress along with professionalism within the office. * This position will handle confidential information with the understanding that this information cannot be discussed with anyone outside the Office of Advancement. * This position will work with the team on projects dedicated to just them but with the guidance of the department with accuracy and on a defined deadline. Required Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Attention to detail and evidence of initiative. * Experience with Microsoft Office programs. * Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure * Time Management, attendance and punctuality, and dependability career-readiness Location: On SU Campus in the Alumni House Education First year, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. All Majors. Experience No experience required. Additional Requirements: This position is paid $8.00 per hour with approximately 4-10 hours per week. Commitment to position may not exceed 20 hours per week and hours can fluctuate based on demand. The Alumni House is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm throughout the academic year. Physical Demand * Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. * Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. * Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. * Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending. * Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. * Working conditions are indoor.
