Job Summary The Mail Carrier position is an integral part of the Facilities Management Team. Responsibilities include processing outgoing and incoming mail from the Post Office and sorting and delivering all mail, Federal Express, United Parcel Service packages, and freight deliveries to all departments on campus. This position picks up small items of surplus property and assists the supervisor in inventory storage and surplus of property, preparing and documenting all campus bulk mailings, assisting in preparing monthly charge-back reports, maintaining accurate funding in permit accounts with the post office, and maintaining mail machine. The position will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the archive/storage of campus records and managing the destruction when appropriate as per established standards. Expected to maintain a safe environment in the campus warehouse and operate forklift equipment and mail carts. The position is responsible for serving as a backup for the shipping/receiving supervisor. Incumbent will also assist the campus community with paperwork for surplus and moves and setups crew regarding any work orders pertaining to surplus. The position will be expected to solve mail or package delivery issues. Responsibilities * Process incoming and outgoing US mail from Morrow Post Office * Sorting and delivery of mail to all departments to include interoffice mail, all packages, and freight deliveries * Pick up small items for surplus property * Assist in maintaining accurate funding in permit accounts with the post office * Assist in maintaining mail machine, other related mail equipment, and hand-held tracking device that is connected to a computer for feeding package delivery information for future tracking report * Assist in solving delivery issues * Assist in receiving institutional acquisitions, including all campus packages, furniture, equipment, and other assets * Maintain archive/storage of campus records and handle the destruction when appropriate as per established standards * Maintain organization and safety in the campus warehouse, maintain warehouse lift equipment and mail carts * Serve as a backup for supervisor of campus mail * Communicate with the campus clients, moves, and setups crew regarding any work orders pertaining to surplus * Perform other duties as outlined by the Facilities Management Department Required Qualifications * Strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills. * A strong customer service orientation while providing a helpful and friendly approach to serving the campus community. * Must be able to work with the departmental personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner. * Proficient in various computer software programs (Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, and Oracle). * High School Diploma or GED preferred. * Have a valid Driver¿s license * Preferred more than one year of shipping/receiving and administrative-related experience within the educational environment. * Be able to lift a minimum of 50lb safely and have the ability to operate a forklift. * Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced educational environment. * Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
