Job Summary: The primary focus of the Instructional Technology Specialist is to build the knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively integrate 21st Century learning and teaching into the District's instructional program. The Technology Specialist must have highly effective interpersonal skills, be fluent in web 2.0/3.0 technologies, and be committed to a continuous process for professional growth. Qualifications: * Professional Educator License with K-8 or K-12 Technology Specialist Endorsement or Approval Primary Roles and Responsibilities: * Under the direction of the Teaching & Learning Department, collaborates with teachers, building the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively integrate 21st Century learning and teaching into the instructional program. * Develops relevant lessons and professional development experiences that incorporate the ISTE Standards for Teachers and Students. * Plans and implements district and building-based professional learning around technology integration for staff and/or parents and community members. * Designs curriculum resources for digital literacy and citizenship for students and staff including appropriate use, internet safety, social, ethical, and legal issues. * Provides instruction to students related to digital literacy and communication. * Manages district and school-level educational technology platforms including: PowerSchool SIS, PowerTeacher Pro, Performance Matters, Seesaw, Classlink, IXL, and myON. * Establishes an environment that encourages creative and independent use of instructional technology throughout the district. * Promotes and models digital citizenship and responsibilities related to the use of technology and digital information. * Follows Illinois state law by teaching Internet Safety as directed by the Bensenville Elementary School District 2 Board of Education at the elementary school level. * Promotes 21st century teaching and learning, providing teaching and learning resources and ideas to instructional staff through a variety of methods. * Collaborates with the other district Technology Specialist and Instructional Technology Assistants to meet the needs of students and staff including collaborating around professional learning. * Participates in department, faculty, curriculum, and special meetings and serves on committees whose activities directly affect the integration of technology into the curriculum as needed. * Works with new staff members to provide orientation to the District's technology resources. * Continually gathers and interprets information documenting the effectiveness of technology integration. * Stays current on research and emerging technologies that foster educational applications of technology. * Maintains an in-depth understanding of current legislation and regulations regarding access, copyright, and fair use that affect education. * Participates and/or presents with local and national professional organizations relating to technology and curriculum. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, including differentiation, and their relation to learning, teaching, and technology integration. * Skilled in the instructional utilization of a wide range of technology equipment and software including Web 2.0/3.0 technologies. * Demonstrates a deep understanding of the ISTE Standards and how they supplement and enhance curriculum. * Knowledgeable of the current literature, trends and developments in the field of instructional technology, including assistive technology. Physical Demands * Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees of the district. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in either written, diagram or oral form. * Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. * Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. * May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds. * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Pay: In agreement with the Teacher's contract
