Through the generosity of foundations, grants, organizations and individual donors, Catholic Charities operates 16 programs providing support to more than 4,500 people daily and encompassing four core areas: Family Services, Food Services, Immigration and Refugee Services and Homeless and Housing Services. Position Summary The Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the development and implementation of strategies, guidance, and direction for the delivery of all agency operations programs in alignment with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's (CCSN's) mission and values. This position will provide leadership, review and authorization for carrying out operations, major service development plans, and the integration of services with a focus on impact, service quality, positive and measurable client outcomes, and sustainability. Agency programs and operational responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, housing and shelter services, food and nutrition services, campus security and surveillance, facilities, maintenance, housekeeping, immigration and refugee services, child and family services, senior services, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), and other responsibilities that may be assigned by the President/CEO. Current direct reports include Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Social Services, Vice President of Food and Nutrition Services, Vice President of Immigration and Migration Services, and Purchasing Manager. Essential Responsibilities Strategy and Leadership Lead the development and execution of strategic planning, program development and evaluation for all operations programs and services in order to improve and enhance CCSN's staff, clients, and services. * Develop and maintain excellent standards of professional practice and modes of service delivery that anticipate changing community needs, that can be measured and quantified. * Ensure provision of exemplary, innovative, and effective operations programs and services with a focus on exceptional, measurable client service outcomes within approved budget parameters. * Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with the various entities whose support is necessary for agency sustainability, including, but not limited to, federal, state, county, city, and other community organizations, donors, Board Members, benefactors, and volunteers. Represent the agency externally as needed at community meetings and events. * Establish policies that promote positive, effective agency culture and vision. Team Development * Promote and instill a culture of inclusiveness, high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. * Lead and mentor program Vice Presidents, Directors, and all staff members by providing positive support and guidance, and holding staff accountable for program work plans and operating goals. * Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members, and empower them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance improvements through positive reinforcement and effective leadership. Operations * Establish overall agency operational goals, objectives, and success measures, in collaboration with the President/CEO, Finance, senior agency staff, and operations teams. * With the Finance team and operational leaders, develop and oversee program budgets. Monitor and adjust expenditures monthly to stay within annual CCSN budget and grant budgets and protocols, and ensure that all revenue and expense targets, as well as client outcome targets are monitored and met. * Evaluate and recommend potential funding sources for agency programs, and ensure agency compliance with funder requirements. * Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of campus construction and/or renovation projects as required. * Protect all confidential information, company property and electronic data. Comply with safety rules. * Other related duties as directed by the President/CEO. Qualifications * Combination of education and experience normally represented by a Master's Degree in Business, Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field, and a minimum of ten years' related experience in the management of fiscal, administrative, operations, program operations, leadership and supervision in human services or a related field. Commensurate private sector and/or not for profit experience a plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Passion for social justice and services to people in need, to the newcomer and limited-English-speaking community, to seniors, to disadvantaged families, and a personal style that inspires others to care deeply about the mission and work of CCSN. Intercultural sensitivity and dedication to inclusiveness and diversity are essential. * Familiarity with, and a strong commitment to Catholic Social Teachings, embodied in a life of dedicated community service. * Collaborative and teamwork style of leadership that positively engages staff at all levels of the organization. * Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; capacity to enforce accountability, and develop, empower and position emerging leaders for success. * High level of business acumen, including the ability to balance the delivery of strong programs against the realities of a budget; and utilize problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness in managing people and business units. * Demonstrated ability of developing strategic and operational plans in a client-centered environment. * Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and incorporate them into organizational planning efforts and initiatives. * Proven track record of capacity to positively design, implement and successfully complete business plans that both meet goals and engage individuals in the process. * Multitasking and multiple project prioritizing skills are essential. Physical Requirements * Primarily works in and across all departments throughout the agency, and will also work with state, county, city, and other related entities in their jurisdictions/locations. * Ability to travel as needed, and working nights, weekends, and holidays as may be required. * Ability to effectively communicate with donors, volunteers, Board Members and co-workers. * Ability to operate and use office equipment, especially computer, keyboard and mouse. * Ability to continuously sit and/or stand. Ability to climb stairs as needed. * May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
