Title: Psychiatrist Department: Mental Health Reports To: Medical Director Status: Exempt (Salary), Full-Time Location: DT Wellness Schedule: Mon-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (flexible) Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement Planning (403b), Employee Assistant Program (EAP), etc. SUMMARY The psychiatrist will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, documenting encounters and services, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the clients' progress. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Develops treatment plans by determining the nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies, including prescription of psychotropic medications. * Monitors and evaluates treatment results. * Evaluates clients by interviewing client, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results. * Treats clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients; providing instructions; and monitoring effect of medications. * Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers. * Assures quality and safe service for clients and staff by participating in utilization reviews; and remaining available for emergency consultations. * Improves staff competence by providing discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues. * Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events and writing summaries. * Completes communications and forms in regards to client cases as necessary by social services and other pertinent agencies. * Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. QUALIFICATIONS * Completion of a psychiatry residency or a combined family medicine/psychiatry residency in an ACGME-approved residency program * Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry) * Valid state medical license as MD/DO * Valid DEA certificate * Two years' experience working full-time as a psychiatrist in adult psychiatry * Strong understanding of advocacy and the role it plays in mental health * Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills * Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision * Current, valid California Driver with an acceptable driving record * Strong interpersonal and team building skills * Able to obtain and maintain CPR/1st Aid certification Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge and experience in chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment * Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements * Minimum 30 WPM typing speed * Bilingual Spanish WORK ENVIRONMENT * Combination of field and office environment * Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs. * On occasion walk or drive to different local sites * Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments * Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor * May need to bend, stoop, twist and sit throughout the day EXPECTED BEHAVIORS OF ALL STAFF * Act as a role model * Demonstrate a sense of responsibility * Continuously learn and improve * Acknowledge your own areas of improvement * Hear and provide honest, specific and direct feedback * Create an environment where everyone is welcomed valued and respected * Collaborate Equal Opportunity Employer The People Concern is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to non-discrimination in employment.
