TPWD MISSION To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. NOTE: Internal Posting. Open to TPWD Law Enforcement only. Under the direction of the Regional Major, this position performs wildlife, conservation, and natural resources enforcement work, including, supervising conservation and other law enforcement work in an assigned District. Supervises staff, programs and District Office administration. Conducts analysis and reporting of data related to enforcement programs and activities. Exercises discretion and independent judgment, with authority to make independent choices in applying regulations, policies and operational procedures. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree; Graduation from the Texas Game Warden Training Academy. Experience: Eight years experience as a Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden. Licensure: Must possess a valid class "C" Texas driver's license; Must possess a current license as a peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Commissioned as a Texas Game Warden by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon maintaining required licenses. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS Education: One additional year of the required experience as a Texas Game Warden may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours. WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday: Required to work overtime as necessary; Required to travel 20% with possible overnight stays; Required to reside within the Region and within a radius of up to 50 air miles from the Law Enforcement Office (LEO). If an LEO is not located within the District, the Captain will reside within the District at a location approved by the Major.
