CNC Programmers
at SDC are detail-oriented individuals primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC machine programs to manufacture precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and 3D models while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Essential Functions: Develops, writes, and modifies CNC programs based on CAD models and engineering drawings using CAM software (Mastercam preferred) ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Sets up, programs, operates, and troubleshoots CNC mills and lathes without assistance. Does CNC machine setup, including installing the correct tooling, fixtures, and materials, and calibrating the machines to ensure proper alignment and settings. Reduces setup time and machining through process improvements. Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests. Has a working knowledge of Solidworks with the ability to prepare geometric layout of designs. Monitors and manages all programs to ensure they follow blueprint instructions. Maintains, troubleshoots, and performs routing maintenance on CNC machines to ensure smooth and safe operation. Complies with all company safety guidelines, including wearing PPE and following safety protocols. Maintains diligent workplace cleanliness. Other duties as assigned and ability to work overtime as needed. Requirements:
5+ years of experience in CNC programming and CNC lathe and mill machine operations. Experience with CAD/CAM software is essential. Technical degree or certification in CNC programming, manufacturing technology, or related field is preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models. Expert knowledge of the machining qualities, properties, and uses of various raw materials. Ability to participate and coordinate with engineers and a project team. Experience with Haas automation equipment. Experience programming with Mastercam software. Setup and operation of manual Knee Mills, Lathes and Grinders preferred. Ability to stand for long periods and lift and move objects over 50 pounds.
