Introduction \n GRADE 0020��\n LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Center for Firearm Violence Prevention and Intervention, Baltimore, MD\n Main Purpose of Job This position will\nbe the lead epidemiologist for health data - injuries and fatalities - and the\nrelevant and related data needed to achieve the mission of the Center for\nFirearm Violence Prevention and Intervention. The purpose of this Center is to\nreduce firearm violence, harm from firearm violence, and misuse of firearms in\nthe State by partnering with federal, state, and local agencies and affected\ncommunities to implement a public health approach to firearm violence\nreduction.\n\n\nThis position will\nconduct statewide collection, analysis, and reporting of firearm-related data\nthat will require multidisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration and\ncoordination.� This will include efforts\nto make data available for planning and action in addition to participation in\nagency efforts for prevention and control of these injuries in Maryland. This\nposition tracks the trends and supports monitoring of progress for evaluation\nand improvement. \n MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:��A Master's degree in the field of Public Health from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three graduate courses in Epidemiology and one graduate course in Biostatistics.\nExperience: Three years of experience as an Epidemiologist after receipt of the Master's degree. \nNotes:\n1. Candidates may substitute a Doctoral degree in the field of Public Health from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six graduate courses in Epidemiology and three graduate courses in Biostatistics for the required education and experience.\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Science classifications or Clinical Lab, Medical Scientists, or�Bio Medical Lab Officer specialty codes in the health research field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.\n SELECTION PROCESS Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation.
