Description

SUMMARY

The Special Events Intern will play a key role in assisting with our primary and third-party events, including events planning, management, execution, communication, and design. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in learning more about nonprofit fundraising and event planning. The internship offers exciting hands-on experience and the opportunity to gain new skills in non-profit fundraising and events. This is a unpaid internship with a flexible schedule; it is mandatory that students receive course credit for the completion of this internship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in ensuring proactive planning, communication, and scheduling of a wide variety of events including annual events, dinner programs, networking events, and special interest group meetings. Participates in the program content development for events; coordinates the distribution of promotional materials, including ticket sales. Assists in managing pre- and on-site sales and registration (tracking via database, generating reports, and problem solving) for all events and programs. Works with Marketing team to plan marketing activities necessary to ensure successful events. Participates in planning committee meetings including distributing agenda and taking minutes. Monitors the special events content on the website and social media sites to ensure they are updated according to schedule. Secures equipment and rentals as needed; facilitates set-up, tear-down, and helps coordination of overall event execution. Assists with post-event reporting, clean up, and resolutions to issues that may arise. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a college junior or senior studying communications, marketing, event management, or a related field. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment and still meet deadlines. Dynamic self-starter who takes initiative, highly reliable. Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and follow-up skills. Proactive problem prevention and issue resolution leadership ability. Polished and professional when dealing with donors, prospective donors, sponsors, and executive leadership. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
