Position Overview The Vice President (VP) of Engineering is primarily responsible for leading engineering efforts (Web, Server, and Devices) for Cantaloupe's payment platform - a high-velocity platform which processes billions of dollars annually. This role involves managing and mentoring engineering teams, fostering innovation and technical excellence, and ensuring efficient collaboration with other departments. The VP of Engineering also plays a crucial role in strategic planning, setting technical direction, and staying abreast of industry trends and advancements to maintain the company's competitive edge. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong vision for the future of technology within Cantaloupe. Primary Responsibilities: * Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, and mentoring engineers and engineering managers * Develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering department, aligning with Cantaloupe's overall business objectives * Oversee the design, development, and delivery of products, ensuring they meet quality standards and customer needs * Collaborate with other departments (e.g. product management, sales, marketing, finance / accounting) to align engineering efforts with broader company goals. * Manage the engineering budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively. * Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and methodologies to enhance productivity and efficiency * Ensure the highest standards of quality in engineering practices and in the final products * Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and stability * Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including reporting on engineering progress, challenges, and achievements.
