Click Here to View the Part-Time Salary Schedule CARD is looking for motivated and energetic individuals to join our Adult Rec Sports team! Under Supervision of the Adult Sports Recreation Coordinator Adult Sports Directors work behind the scenes making Adult Sports Programs excel! This job entails setting up for games, providing on-site support to the CARD officiating staff and providing excellent customer service to the CARD Adult Sports Community. We're looking for highly motivated people with a strong customer service orientation, who enjoy interaction with the public and who are flexible problem-solvers. Sports Directors work in the formal Chico Area Recreation and Park District classification of Adult Sports Director. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 12 - 19 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Depending on program assignment(s) duties may include, but are not limited to: * Field and court preparation for District Sports Programs to include * Drag and/or chalk infields, placing softball bases, placing goals and nets, setting volleyball standards and nets, moving portable bleachers, and safety checks. * Ensure that game courts, fields and equipment are in proper and safe playing condition. * Assist with administrative duties to include * Distribute and collect team rosters, player add/drop forms, official scorecards * Complete and submit accident/incident forms when needed * Provide onsite support to CARD officiating staff and/or CARD Adult Sports Program participants with conflict management when needed * Check that public restroom facilities are operational and appropriately and adequately stocked * Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other District employees and the public using principles of good customer service. * Administer CPR and first aid as trained. * Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities for this Job Class is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Enrolled high school student in good standing with valid work permit (16 years old minimum) or equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. One year of college-level coursework in recreation, sports administration/management, physical education, or a closely related field is desirable. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a customer service role is desirable KNOWLEGE OF: *
  • Game rules and methods of scoring in a variety of sports, such as basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. * Court/Field layout for a variety of sports, such as basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. * Conflict Resolution strategies LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of an appropriate driver license and/or reliable transportation. • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current 1st Aid/CPR/AED Training certification. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Passing a background check is required prior to formal job offer. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. * ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an indoor or outdoor recreational environment and may include travel from site to site; and exposure to inclement weather conditions. * PHYSICAL: Primary functions require walking, standing, running, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing; light, moderate or heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying. * VISION: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. * HEARING: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
