The Mortgage Business Development Manager leads the Mortgage Business Development and Community Outreach teams and reports to the Producing Branch Manager/Loan Officer. Join us and work with purpose.Essential Functions Team Leadership and Development * Lead, inspire, motivate, mentor, and develop Mortgage Business Development and Community Outreach team members by providing guidance and training to reach and exceed Member experience service levels and team goals while promoting UFCU's cultural values. * Collaborate in developing initiatives for morale building, employee retention and engagement; promote professional relationships and partnerships with leaders throughout the organization. * Serve as a role model in transparent communication, two-way dialogue, and proactive communication to the team. * Utilize a proactive, ethical, and consultative approach to build a successful and effective team to operate according to UFCU guiding principles, providing guidance and resources and removing obstacles as needed. * Create an environment that builds, encourages, and rewards teamwork, collaboration, and delivering business value. * Provide team leadership and development based on servant leadership principles, caring for the whole person. * Plan, monitor, and appraise job results with an emphasis on coaching and developing employees to achieve desired performance results. * Regularly consult with partners to determine team performance and identify opportunities for improvement; take necessary action to address performance issues. * Help teams achieve their career goals. Business and Product Development and Community Outreach * Create new business opportunities to develop and strengthen referral relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and affordable housing opportunities. * Research marketplace to evaluate loan products, technology, and rate structures and provide recommendations to enhance UFCU's competitiveness in the market place. * Work closely with the mortgage sales leadership team to assist and support individual Loan Officer growth and business development. * Manage, maintain, and grow Customer Relationship Management (CRM) usage and capabilities. * Lead the Community Outreach and Affordable Housing team to develop and enhance new and current affordable housing partnerships. * Evaluate current loan product mix, success, and profitability and determine need and value of potential new affordable housing loan products. Enterprise Liaison * Enhance UFCU's strategic objectives by partnering with the Member Experience Retail Team Leaders and other departmental leadership within the Credit Union to create new opportunities for products and growth. * Develop, enhance, and maintain the mortgage marketing strategy in partnership with the MarCom Team. Oversee all aspects of mortgage brand awareness in the marketplace pertaining to social media, company rankings, market reputation, and industry presence. * Monitor and evaluate metrics to determine the quantity and quality of incoming leads and incoming phone calls to implement strategic growth objectives. Vendor and Contract Management * Manage vendor relationships with appropriate service partners. * Oversee vendor and contract management of relevant third party contractors. * Manage and collaborate with third-party vendors, ensuring scope, quality, service levels, and key terms meet or exceed requirements. Budget/Expense Development and Management * In collaboration with senior leadership and other managers, establish annual budget with identification of planned expenses for new or enhanced programs and services. * Ensure effective control of results. Take action to guarantee achievement of technology services objectives that fall within designated budget. * Actively pursue cost improvement opportunities to reduce capital costs, operational cost, and expenses. Other * Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes. * Complete required regulatory training as assigned. * Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge * Strong knowledge and understanding of sales, business development, or strategic alliance management. * Strong knowledge of UFCU Mortgage products and services. * Solid understanding of credit union industry, including awareness of industry leaders and understanding of credit union business development opportunities. * Knowledge and understanding of the Austin/Coastal area communities UFCU serves. * Familiarity with current mortgage lending laws and regulations, understanding of documentation relating to residential real estate lending and conventional financing, and/or familiarity with credit union philosophies and practices preferred. * Knowledgeable of all aspects of the federal and state regulations dealing with Mortgage and Home Equity lending. * Familiar with mortgage lending file organization and the related documentation associated with mortgage files. * Basic knowledge of the mortgage process, documentation, requirements; governmental and agency requirements; and terminology. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree. * Minimum of five (5) years mortgage lending experience. * Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sales, business development, or strategic partner management. * Minimum of three (3) years of direct or indirect team leadership and development experience. * Must be bondable. Preferred Requirements * Experience working within a retail services, customer-facing environment. * Prior credit union experience. * Bilingual in English and Spanish. * Department budgetary and vendor management experience.
