The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia seeks an experienced Lab Manager to lead neuroscience research within the Laboratory of Dr. Mark Beenhakker. The successful candidate will provide advanced technical support for research projects, engage in scientific experimentation, and undertake administrative responsibilities essential for the efficient functioning of the Beenhakker Lab. Job Responsibilities: * Ensure cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space. * Maintain equipment in working condition and manage stock of materials. * Process purchases. * Supervise multiple lab members and oversee laboratory activities. * Ensure compliance with established practices and operational standards. * Train lab members and enforce adherence to laboratory protocols. * Manage and coordinate research projects within the lab. * Provide advice on technical procedures and equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's degree. Bachelor's degree accepted with additional experience. Experience: Master's degree: F our years of experience in lab technical and supervisory role. Bachelor's Degree: Six years of experience in lab technical and/or supervisory role. Licensure: Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred. Certain areas may require certification to be obtained through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
