Videos Help Duties This position is located in Interior Regions 3, 4, 5 or Midwest Region (MWR), under the Office of the Regional Director, with the National Park Service (NPS). The incumbent is the Regional Comptroller and is responsible for all financial and budget formulation, execution, and oversight activities for the Region. The position provides authoritative advice to Management at all levels and is responsible for the planning, policy, and implementation of the region's comprehensive programs of budget formulation and execution, financial management, travel, and relocation. The position also provides management to the multi-regional relocation center which services MWR as well as other client regions, parks and programs as outlined in service-level agreements. AREA INFORMATION: The Midwest Regional Office is located in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska and is the county seat of Douglas County. Located along the Missouri River, the 8-county metropolitan Greater Omaha area has a population of approximately 940,000. The area is home to five Fortune 500 companies; the CHI Health Center which attracts top name entertainers, expositions, the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming, and other events; TD Ameritrade Park which hosts the NCAA Men's College World Series; the Henry Doorley Zoo which is nationally renowned for its animal preservation efforts and exhibits; the Old Market which preserves old-town Omaha with its restaurants and shops; a pedestrian bridge and trail spanning the Missouri River to Council Bluffs, Iowa; the Holland Performing Arts Center; and other theaters, museums, and cultural amenities. The area also has 25+ hospitals, including the state's only Children's Hospital, as well as numerous medical schools and research centers. Greater Omaha is also home to Offutt Air Force Base which supports the U.S. Strategic Command, the U.S. Air Force Weather Agency, and the 55th Wing. There are more than 300 elementary and secondary schools and 15+ colleges and universities spanning the Greater Omaha area. Eppley Airfield is serviced by approximately 20 jet service air carriers, and the Greater Omaha area has passenger bus and Amtrak rail service. Omaha also has affordable commuter bus service, taxi, and other transportation (i.e. Uber, Lyft, etc.) services. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes but is not limited to duties such as: providing authoritative advice to Management at all levels and is responsible for the planning, policy, and implementation of the Region's comprehensive programs of budget formulation and execution and financial management. Other examples include oversight and analysis of budget plans; financial management; interpreting financial policies, rules, and regulations to ensure the allocation and execution of funds is compliant with the fiscal law, policy, and organizational goals and priorities; and providing guidance to senior leadership on broad range of fiscal issues. Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary, although occasional travel to remote sites and areas is required.
