Classification Title Temporary Non-Exempt Working Title Bilingual Program Instructor - CHCT Datatel Position ID CHCT0BPGINST1A Annual Hours As needed or assigned not to exceed 25 hours per week or 1000 hours in a fiscal year. Placement Range $25 - $35 per Contact Hour Position Type Temporary Part-time Job Category Non-Exempt General Description The function of the bilingual program instructor of the OCCC Capitol Hill Center is to instruct in various programs, in English and Spanish, which increases access to technology and promotes the use of technology in education for adults and youth, and programs that will meet community needs. Reports To Senior Director of Community Outreach and Education What position(s) reports to this position? None Minimum Education/Experience Two (2) years experience in relevant areas of program instruction. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bilingual English Spanish Effective Communication Skills in English and Spanish Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Proven bilingual interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to utilize computer technology Experience teaching adult audiences Physical Demands/Working Conditions 1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position. The person in this position must be able to ascend and descend stairs. This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position. This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level. This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office/classroom equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. 3. VISUAL ACUITY: This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, classroom or office setting. Establish and maintain positive relationships and represent the College with Capitol Hill students and patrons. Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures. Contribute to a safe educational & working environment. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
