The School of Arts & Humanities at Missouri Valley College invites applications for Assistant Professor of Studio Art and Artistic Director of the Morris Gallery of Contemporary Art to begin in August 2024. This position is a full-time, renewable, non-tenure track position. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities A successful candidate must be able to teach all levels of Drawing and Painting and will ideally have previous Gallery experience. The Artistic Director of the Morris Gallery of Contemporary Art is responsible for artistic direction of the professional gallery on the campus of Missouri Valley College and maintains its day-to-day operations. The Gallery Director will take responsibility for both the permanent collection around campus and artwork on loan to the college for specific exhibitions. The Gallery Director reports to the Morris Gallery Board of Directors, and builds strong relationships with community members by exhibiting work by important and diverse professional artists and creating press packets to generate high levels of interest among the campus and community. Qualifications * MFA in Studio or Visual Art (or closely related discipline) preferred; bachelor's degree in Studio or Visual Art required. * Prior teaching experience in higher education preferred. Collegiality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the college mission are also necessary qualifications.
