This is a paid internship, working 16 hours per week from July 8th, 2024 through December 20th 2024. Current Salary is $18.07 per hour. This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Position Summary & Essential Functions: * The editorial intern will report and write weekly event picks, news briefs, and shorter breaking stories online. You will be strongly encouraged to file at least one in-depth, feature length story during your internship. Other Job Functions: * Contributing to group projects and assisting editors as needed. Some list management or formatting tasks may arise from time to time, as well as occasional audio or photography assignments. Knowledge/Experience Required: * Experience writing and reporting * A natural curiosity and open mind * A passion for the arts in all its forms * Strong writing voice * Solid work ethic * Commitment to serving the community Knowledge/Experience Desired: * Fluency in Wordpress or equivalent CMS platform * Photography and audio skills * Ability to drive for stories * Nimbleness and creativity on social media * Familiarity with public records * Deep knowledge of the Bay Area arts scene Growth & Development Opportunities: * This is not a fetch-coffee internship. You will be mentored by award-winning editors providing hands-on guidance and direction to develop your skills as much as possible and prepare you for work at national outlets.
